Default CAT question

Got an 07 ultra. I got gifted some 2010 Roadking pipes (the end sections) which look better than mine. I am correct that I can't use them becuase on an 07 the CAT is in the pipe exit section and on a 2010 the CAT is in the pipe section which attaches to the engine......meaning...if I use these nicer looking exhaust sections...I would have no CAT?

07 didn't have catalytic converters.2010 has a crossover under the bike. 07 doesn't have the proper mounting locations on the back of the engine for the 2010 exhaust.

the exhaust end sections, the slip ons, should be uneffected by the above discribed underbike crossovers? they are just the end sections. correct?

Ok, I was under the impression you were using the 2010 headpipes too. Yes the mufflers should fit.

I was under the impression that the cat was in the muffler in 2010 and it was moved up to the header pipe for 2011 to meet even tighter epa requirements. I also think that the 2007 left muffler housed a catalyc converter. My 2 cents.

Sorry Jim, that's incorrect. The catalytic converters are in the collector section of the header & the '07's had no converters at all.

I have an '07 Road Glide that I've put a stock 2010 2 into 1 exhaust on. Actually, I have two 2010 exhausts. I ran the first one for most of the year with the cat in it. Ran just fine, but I wanted to see how it would do without the cat. I removed the cat from the second exhaust & am runnin' it now. Not much louder, & it seems a bit more responsive.

For the O.P., as long as the length is close enough to allow the hangers under the bags to line up you should be good to go.

Correct. You are referring to the mufflers, which are attached to the head pipe assembly and bolt on under the bags.

As others have said, there is no cat in an '07.
