I have 35k miles on my 07 and have found the transmission oil actually makes a huge difference. I like Redline heavy shockproof the best.

3K? let me guess, you bought used and just got it.

My 08 was always tricky all the way up to 59k miles didn't seem to matter what fluid was in it. The 11 FLHTK aint any better.

I've always been able to find neutral easier with the key on but the engine NOT running.

you should be able to find it right where you left it....with only 3000 miles I 'm think'n you can't find any of the gears also
