Default Power Commander Help

I've been told on this forum that the cause of my ultra overheating in warm (not even hot) weather may be due to the fact that it is running too lean.
It's a stock '03 with a stage 1 kit which includes the power commander dynojet. Is this an adjustment I can make myself? Do I need any special equipment to make the adjustment?
I'm pretty good at turning wrenches but have never made a fuel adjustment. Any advise will be helpful. Thanks

I think all you need is the software and a computer.
Call Jamie at fuel moto, they can hook you up.

Check out their web site also, lots of good info.

I believe you can download the PC software free from the Dynojet wesite. Once you get the software and the cable you need to retreave the MAP that is in the PC, then youcan make sure it is the correct MAP for your bike, or you can search the PC website and get one that is right for your build and load iton and try it. It's pretty easy to load MAPs, I would start there and see what you have.

carry bike to a "good " indy tuner with a dyno.... you can screw things up if you just start turning screws

I agree that making changes without feedback, that is knowing what AFR you are getting, is generally not a good idea. OTOH if you know where you are at the outset, i.e. know what AFR the tuner used to create the original map, you can make incremental changes and judge the results. A too-lean condition is usually indicated by surging, hesitation, or detonation. Heat is also a byproduct of the AFR used.

If you bought the PCIII from Fuel Moto give them a call. If not, download a proper map from the PC site, and if you aren't happy with that result get it dyno-tuned by a competent tuner. Not every tuner is competent, so do your research before committing.
