Low End Torque Cam
Do the 255 cams require MCR or ACR in the stock head 96? If they don't, does the engine crank over fairly easy with the stock CR? I am looking into the 255 cams for my 2010 Street Glide only, with no increase to 103 or head work.
Is anyone familar with S&S's #551 or 570 easy start cams? I decided to go with their 106" kit and real like the idea of not having to machine away cooling fins for compression releases. Mainly interested in low end torque for my 2009 FLHR.

I've also been researching cams for my own '09 FLHR and the Wood TW-555 is the 'standout' compared to SE-255 or the S&S 551. (On paper, anyway) Haven't read anything 'bad' about any of them but the dyno charts for the TW-555 make me feel all fuzzy inside.
I have the 255's.
On the dyno I picked up about 10hp and 10ft pounds of torque over my Stage One dyno results.
90% of my ridding is two-up and I am happy with the results of the cam swap.
Power starts out low and I noticed that 6th gear is way more usable now. I can run 6th gear at 55mph now were as before that would have been the wrong gear and I would have needed 5th gear (remember this is two up).
As too Compression releases, I don't have them and I have never had a starting issue. I did install a SE compensator when I did the cams and that may have something to do with it.
For were I ride (off idle to 3500 rpm's) these cams and a stage one has worked out very well for me.
Are there better cam's out there for low end torque? Might be, but these do the job for me.

You can add me to the list of happy 255 owners, as they did exactly what I wanted and expected.
