I agree in a stock 96" the way to go since you may not do headwork or use a thinner head gasket to raise the compression. Don't over cam a stocker!!!

If low end torque means idle to 3,000 rpm, it is very hard to beat the 255 cams. I will go out on a limn and say near impossible for low end roll on.
Before you toss the 255 option out, take a good look at direct comparisons between the 255 and what you want. Also go out and ride around and take note of where you shift most times, and what is your desired range for cruising around. If you don't have a tach, someone here can do the math for you if you come back with a mph and which gear you shifted out of. I was surprised at how low the rpm was that I rode at after getting a bike with a tach.

I could not agree More with the above statement,,

I have been looking at Cams for a over a year, To install in my 09 Root Beer Ultra,, Been watching my Tach and would like to add this,, Watch Your TACH IN 4TH ,5TH & 6TH GEAR on a all day Sunday Ride with your friends you will find out how LITTLE you are even close to REDLINE,,,I have decided to go with the 255's because I want POWER I CAN USE 90/95 Percent of the Time. Because ITS A BAGGER NOT A RACE BIKE,,,,

To be honest I don't know much about cams but this thread has peaked my interest. The SE-255 cams appear to offer enough of a bump in torque for me, and most importantly down low where I want it. In other forum discussions I've read, cams with (more?) overlap enable the engine to run a little cooler. Do the 255's have more overlap than the stock and help in cooling as well?

T-man 555 cams or the woods tw-555 are showing great numbers and they dont fall off like the 255's do.

I monitor both oil and head temperatures on my bike and don't notice any difference in cooling between the stock cams and the 255's using the same lean AFR's for both. This bike runs relatively cool compared to most, even others equipped with an oil cooler. I run stock AFR's in the cruise-range for mileage with the option to switch the PCV to a richer map if needed, but I rarely need to use it.

Can you simply install cams and get the desired results, or do other mods need to be made?

I have a 2013 RK with stage one AC, V&H True Duals, and V&H Twin Slash Ovals. Will the 255s alone add more low end torque to this particular set up? If that's the gain, what's the loss? What do you compromise to get this low end torque?

222,s seem to pull the torque in nicely but the 555 gives a more balanced spread with hp.
