Default heat shields, do they work?

Do these really work or just get in the way? I had been kicking around the idea of getting them but some folks I know that had them didn't keep them on long or they broke not long after installing them.

But ones like these are ugly but look to hang low enough that might work

I have them on my 2010 Ultra Limited and they seem to do what they say they do.

I have looked at the old threads with them in it, and most of the web links are bad.

what brand does everyone agree to be the best?

I have the H-D ones on my 07. They work well! You may not need them for 06 or older as some say they run much cooler.

I had the Kurys on my 05 RG. They worked..... but they also turned yellow, and the left one started melting next to the exhaust.

I'm putting the MoCo version on my 2011.

Wink Yes

25,000 miles and the OEM Harley Heat Shileds that came with the bike are perfect, removed at least 5 or more times to work on bike no problems..

I had a set of http://www.rjsoriginals.com/ on my 2007 FLHX they worked great as well............

Get in the way of What ??

I put the HD ones on my 05 Ultra, and they do seem to do the job in the hot weather - keeping the heat off my leg and other areas. They were a real PITA to instal though, they come with alan heads, and there really isn't enough room to get an alan key in to fasten them unless you cut the key shorter.

My wife has the Kuryakyn ones on her 04 Heritage, very easy to install, and she says they work well for her.
