You said it! Hard to believe but this '09 has that first year 2-1-2 headpipe. It throws all the heat on the passenger right ankle. My RJ's helped the wife almost more than me.
No more Fried Thigh's on mine and all I can say is they made a big difference on mine sitting in traffic...and seem to flow better with the lines of the seat and bike than most of the other types I've seen! I'd avoid the plastic one's , I've seen a few discolored and melted ones over the years.
Do these really work or just get in the way? I had been kicking around the idea of getting them but some folks I know that had them didn't keep them on long or they broke not long after installing them.
But ones like these are ugly but look to hang low enough that might work
Harley Shamrock Ride under the Seat Heat Shield Touring for $99.99
I have them on my 07 Road Glide and the right side works well but the left side doesn't.
the oem came on my ultra and seem to be ok, a friend has a pair of theses and really likes them, since i didn't see anybody mention theses here ya go, one thing my buddy was upset with was the babes DON'T come with the set
H-D sells an accessory set that have the little bar and shield device, where as the original equipment ones don't have the bar and shield, from what I have observed. They do work great and do not melt or warp.
I went thru 2 sets of the Kury ones, both times the left side got brittle & cracked when slightly bumped. I prefer the look of the Kury's but, went with HD's this time and they seem to work just as well.
I have the HD ones on my 04 Road King. They work well. I agree, the are a pain to install. I am not sure how someone would be breaking them though. They seem pretty tuff. No problems with warping or discoloring.
