My windshield hit my handlebars as well so I went to the hardware store and got some chrome spacers and put them on my shield between the shield and the cross support. Nobody knows the difference.

You will need new cables too.. adds quite a bit to the project in costs and time.

Default 16" Apes

Thanks for all the comments and tips, have the apes on, moved them forward and back. As noted clutch cable will sometimes come in contact with windshield. Wrapped a dew rag around the cable for long trips and no marks on the cable or other problems noted. Love the apes, no problem in my home Province of Nova Scotia, although in Ontario right now and I have been hassled from time to time .

Simple solution, I had the bars to far forward myself, put the windshield on and it hit. Took less than an hour to take everything back off, loosen the bolts, put windshield on, found good angle tighten back up. I only use the windshield on long trips.

Welcome to the forum.

Hey guys need some help... my buddy has a 2008 Road King and wants to put 16" apes on. Here is where we need the help. He wants to use Carlini flying apes and we need to know what is needed for cable extensions etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mock up the bars and see how much length you need for the break and clutch to reach, depending on where he wants to route stuff the lengths will vary.

All the measurements for longer cables are in how much over stock, i.e.: +6", etc.

Check out a thread I did a little while ago. I haven't ordered them yet but you can get spacers for the windshield that moves it back a liitle. Look for RK with apes and windshield. Might help.
