I've noticed a metal pinging sound (sounds like a washer rattling against a loose nut). It is not noticeable at idle but increases with RPM. I've looked the bike over to see if it was in fact something rattling loose, but no luck. I think it is valve train. Any ideas? Am I screwed? Thanks in advance.

 

Could be anything from a loose heat shield, to valve clatter, lifter noise, etc. What year bike?

 

What year bike? Under warranty?

 

If you have a TC88 and any where near 30k miles check outer front cam bearing cage for damage

Do yourself a favor..... go to the parts store and buy a mechanic's stethoscope. They're only about $10 and will help pinpoint noises.
