Default 3m tape

is there any 2 sided tape better/stronger than the 3m? attached the se rear fascia to my rg about a month ago after seeing instructions here. cleaned everything with alcohol and wiped clean. have about 2 inched coming loose at the top of one side. think the fascia my have a little twist in it that didn't help either. really do not want to drill for the backup plate method but don't want this either. just wondering if any alternatives to 3m product...thanks

I used some two sided tape on my bike that I got from Walmart, don't know the brand, but it has been working fine for two years, through rain and sun and freezing winters. found it in the automotive section.

3m is a brand which is generaly good stuff. Recently I installed a tour-pack organizer with the double sided tape provided by HD in the kit. It failed miserably, within 2 weeks it had fallen off . I went to the automotive store and bought some double sided tape used for body molding and I have had no more probs. Hope this helps.

There are a number of 'grades' of 3M tape...the one you want to use is the 'Super Strength Molding Tape' found at places like Auto Zone and the like. Most HD kits do not come with this tape. You can buy it in various length rolls for under $10.00.

Prep with denatured alcohol and stick...no more problems!

Good luck!

Check out your local auto body & paint supply. They have several 3M products.

I think the heavy duty 3M stuff is red in color. I used the white tape that came with HD saddlebag lid storage and it failed after a couple of months. The red tape has worked for 1.5 years.

Prepping by cleaning and wiping with alcohol helps too, as well as keeping pressure applied for several hours.

3m tape is very good, the trick is to use a promoter on the surface before applying the tape. Try 3m 94 promoter.

I tried several things. Velcro would come loose after a while. So far, red 3M tape is hanging in there. Will find out soon if it can make it through another hot Florida summer.
