if $ are tight a nuvi will work,it doesnt have as bright of a screen and only 2 models are waterproof think its nuvi200 or 500 waterproof isnt really needed they will do fine behind the fairing in all but the heaviest rain a baggie and rubberband will do the trick, zummo is nice for the bike and will go in the car as well.i find garmin the easiest to use and have good customer support.

I use a cheap Tom Tom with a ram mount. The GPS is not rated waterproof but I don't cover it in light rain. If the rain gets harder I just put a baggie over it.

A fairing mount requires drilling holes in your inner fairing. Holes are forever.

+1 on the Garmin Nuvi 550, waterproof, bright screen and much cheaper than a MC specific GPS.

Garmin Zumo 550 + RAM mount. Can plan & upload routes to the unit using Garmin's MapSource software. Love it!! I use the same unit in my truck - pop it off the bike mount & onto the windshield mount.

I use a Zumo 660, cheaper than the HD 660. I have a mirror Ram mount. It comes with both cycle and car mounts. I use it all of the time. Plus it has Bluetooth, so i know if I get a call on my cell phone.

I almost forgot, the Zumo 660 IS WATER PROOF! No need to worry if you get caught in the rain, which I have several times!
