Default Another problem

I've complained about my '09 Ultra Classic so much I'm getting tired of hearing it.

About the time I think everything has been fixed that needs fixing, something else pops it ugly head up.

I went for a ride today and just returned home. Now my stock radio has an issue all of a sudden. Man it's one thing after another with this Harley. I've got an HD XM module and was riding along and the sound goes completely out with the display still on. At first I thought it was a reception problem but the antenna indicator showed full reception. I switched over the FM and the same thing, no sound. After switching the power off and back on everything works find for a while and then it does it again but not with regularity. In a 40 mile trip it did it maybe 6 times.

Anyone else had this happen?

Is it an XM add on with a cable poked into the aux. input?
If it is, I doubt it is a Harley problem. The problem is likely in the XM unit or the cable or (let's hope not) the female plug on the radio. They don't really care for repeated or heavy use.

My stock radio has an HD XM module. The sound goes out even when the FM is on so it's not just an XM issue.

Did you switch the speaker switch back and forth? Maybe something in there? One position is off.. ( Shot in the dark)..

Mine on my 08 did the same kind of thing on a long road trip had to have it sent in and rebuilt one came back. Best bet if your not under warranty send it to Iron Cross they know all the issues and fixes.

My radio cuts out intermittantly. The bike's at the dealer with the HK stereo getting replaced under the extended warranty. This will be the 3rd time.

Iron Cross is the way to go, they will fix it, update software, and have it back to you in less than a week. HD will no longer issue a new radio for a warranty problem; you will get someone else's repaired junk, after waiting 8-16 weeks. I kept my own and sent it to Iron Cross, at least I know the history of my radio.
