I had the same problem and it was a Brand spanking New speaker select switch...
When the audio cut out I would try to cycle the switch with no effect. I would have to turn the radio off and back on again.

I ended up buying a new switch. Fixed it.

About the time I think everything has been fixed that needs fixing, something else pops it ugly head up.

I went for a ride today and just returned home. Now my stock radio has an issue all of a sudden. Man it's one thing after another with this Harley. I've got an HD XM module and was riding along and the sound goes completely out with the display still on. At first I thought it was a reception problem but the antenna indicator showed full reception. I switched over the FM and the same thing, no sound. After switching the power off and back on everything works find for a while and then it does it again but not with regularity. In a 40 mile trip it did it maybe 6 times.

Anyone else had this happen?
Sounds like to me there are some loose pins in the 35 pin connector

What 35 pin connector are you referring to?

It's amazing, ( and a shame,) that so many aftermarket parts are needed to make these bikes run right over the long haul.

Another reason why when I added an audio system to my FLHT, I went with an Alpine unit! I do not want to deal with the crappy H-D HK units!

The 3-way switch was the problem. I just retuned from the dealer and the service tech checked it out and said the switch needs replacing.

I'm getting new front rotors under warranty on the April 28th so they can take care of the switch also.
