Default Progressive 10-2003 Anyone?

Has anyone used the Progressive 10-2003 "drop in" kit on an Ultra?

I had installed the HD Profile kit in mine when I bought it but never liked the spongyness of the front forks. A buddy had the Progressive kit he had never used, gave it to me and I installed last weekend on a whim. Not sure if I like it or not.

Instructions said to use the kit, everything had to be stock so I took out the Profile damper tubes and replaced with the stock ones. Also cleaned everything and changed the fork oil to Bel-Ray 10w. No PVC spacer was used since the instructions say none is required.

According to Progressive, the kit should give about a 1" drop on '10 FLH models which is about the same as the Profile kit. But it is at least another 1" drop below the Profile for at least a 2" drop. Damn thing feels like it is almost bottomed out!

The Progressive main springs are much stronger than the HD but are much shorter with a weak compensation spring at the top. Haven't been able to take her on a real ride yet, that will tell the tale. The Progressive kit may have to come out and HD go back in.

Anyone used one of these kits? Comments?

TIA!

A quality lowering kit should have mods to the travel limiting of the damper. Therefore, this kit is a poor bot approach to lowering. Could be considered unsafe.

I did it for my 2009 road glide and it's true that the instuctions not all that great for do it yourself and I needed to fill in the blanks to figure out the install. The instructions are enough for the touring bikes. But, I thing that product itself is very good and I have over $3,000 miles with them on the bike. It's much better improvement then the stock.... I am very satisfied with the handling of the bike. I also waiting on the 940s to arrive for the rear.
