Default Peculiar problem....

I have a peculiar problem.

The quick release brackets on my bike....the forward mounting bolts on both sides....when I open or close the saddlebag, the edge of the lid gets pressed into the head of the bolt, and the phillips slots try to cut into the paint.

I'm trying to think of a different head or screw I can put in there to stop this....it's either that, or ignore it, or remove the brackets and sell them to one of you all.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

~joe

When the dealer installed mine the tech put 4 clear pieces of tape on the inside edges of the saddle bag lid. Works great. I'd take pics, but you'd never see them, however, I can take some pics and point to where the 4 pieces tape are located if that will help.

I had a similar problem with my leather bags on the RKC and the dealer suggested the rear docking hardware cover kit 48035-09. It holds itself on with magnets. and seems to do the trick. I have attached a pic of them.

The installation kit should have come with 4 little square 3-M chip guard film tape pieces. If it didn't, you should be able to go to any auto body repair facility and purchase a scrap real cheap. It is expensive to buy a whole roll for the small pieces you will need, which is why I recommend an auto body shop. If you can't get any, ping me with your name and address and I'll mail you a piece large enough that you can cut out what you need. Rick

Thanks.

Yeah. They were already on the bike when I bought it, and thus came with the bike.

Let me see if the nearby body shop has a chunk.

OK Joe,
Like I said, if you can't find it, I'll mail you a piece. I also found this on ebay. The stuff is good for lots of applications on our bikes. Rick

I've noticed the same thing, but another thing I noticed was when you unlatch the bag with the sissy bar on. The bag lid hits the sissy bar, does anybody else have this issue?
