Took my youngest out for her first ride to day and she loved it. She was screaming "this is the best day ever". Get up to 50 MPH and she says over the intercom "Make it go faster Daddy". You think she means I should buy and install the 107" kit? Great Day!
I can feel your excitement! I never took the kids biking or flying in the hey-days! Not that I didn't (or still don't) feel safe, but, I am keenly aware of the risks involved and wanted them to grow into full realization of these things before they came into their own. They are all grown now and amazingly none of the 3 have any "wild" streak in them.
Before we started boating as a family I impozed the Coast Guard boating safety course on them. As a family we spent many a summer SAFELY boating together because of it. Many a fond memory there.
Enjoy your riding time together and if they become serious about wanting to follow in your footsteps teach them well. KEEP SAFE AND HAVE A GOOD TIME!
She is 5 and has been chomping at the bit for a year to ride since my other daughter started riding at 6. I am sure they will want to ride their own when they get older. I am a MSF Rider Coach and I will put them through a BRC when the time is right. I gave my wife the class a few weeks ago and now she has her license. One thing great about motorcycling is that it can be a great family activity.
As far as the risk goes I think about that everytime they are on the bike with me, we only take short trips to the base and around town but all my senses are heighten when I am carring a special passenger.
Some of my best memories are of the times riding (in the dirt and on the street) with my daughter. At 28, they are still some of her best also...or so she tells me...lol
