Not too long ago there was quite a bit of hype about changing to the Dunlap E3 tires. I did a search but couldn't find any feedback as to how well this tire does after it's been run in, etc. After about 7 to 10K of ware, do they still handle better than stock, do you get better or worse mileage out of them?
I'm due for a new set, and if the E3's continue to live up to the great handling after a bunch of miles I'm ready to switch!

Only got about 150 on mine so far. I do notice a difference in ride and handling on the Ultra though. Took on a woodchuck at 65 miles per with nary a problem.

 

I put them on my last bike and put 6600 miles on them before I sold it. Still looked like new and I really liked not being pulled around on the steel bridges due to the tread design. They handled very good too.

FWIW, I'm on my 4th set. I've been very pleased with a) handling, b) durability, and c) purchase cost. I've bought off the internet at Dennis Kirk, Ron Ayers, and one other vendor that slips my mind. Each time I shop for what it is on sale, with shipping, and I've been very pleased. I"ve been through most of the various tire vendors, and these have fit the bill best for me. Cost is a huge factor as I go through so many tires, that's a significant criteria in selection, but I'd certainly pay more if I could find something that lasted longer, or performed better. I haven't found that yet!

 

Been great tires, handling is great, have 15000 on my SG and still have 4/32 tread on rear tire nearest the center, let air out this weekend and checked tire center... still very firm which tells me somewhat that there is ample rubber in the center. Overall very impressed with the E3's, just ordered another set to put on once my rear get a few more miles on it.

 

The way I ride, I was getting about 7-8000 out of a rear dunlop 402 and it would be smooth.
Change to E3s when I upgraded my wheels and currently have about 5500 on them.
The rear looks like it is about 1/3 or so gone so I suspect I'll get at least somewhere between 11-12000 on it ( hopefully) before I have to replace it. That's a 50% increase in wear. Not bad. The front should go at least as far as the old 402 which was changed at about 22,000 and still had tread. The E3s ride and handle better too. The service guy at the dealer tried to talk me out of the E3s saying he heard a lot of bad feedback from riders, I'm glad I didn't listen to him.

 

Changed by back to a E3 last spring, put 16000 on it last year and there was still some to go.
Had to replace the front this spring so I replaced both ( with E3's)
Like the ride and there is no grabbing of the tar snakes.

I put an E3 on the rear of my EG Standard before I traded it. I loved the handling but was VERY disappointed in the fact I only got about 7000 on it before it needed replacement. I had gotten 12900 on the original. I ride somewhat hard but anticipate staying with either HD's replacement or one of similar nature. I am currently putting about 2000 a month on my FLHX. At only 7000 miles a tire I'd go broke in a flash.

 

07 RG. Have about 18,000 on the front and still looks very good; few more thousand to go. I had to replace the rear (screw which ruined the tire), and so I have about 12,000 on the current rear. While I haven't measured the tread, the tire still looks new; no where near replacement time. I would buy these tires just for the improved handling, even if the mileage weren't so good.

 

I'm right at 10k on my first set. Road handling seems about the same as when they were new but I have just recently noticed a slight deterioration rear braking. This could also by my pads wearing down. I would say the rear looks about half way through its life and the front looks pretty close to new. I will never go back to the D402s.
