Road King vs Road King Classic
#24
I've had 2 RKC's and put on over 100,000 miles riding 2 up since 2005. Many week long bike trips all over the west. Many overnight stays. A few all day rain rides as well. The leather covered bags are no problem at all. They ARE waterproof. Dress'em up once a year and they'll always look new. I like the looks of the classic. That's why I went that way.

When I got my RKC this February, I had the classic wheels changed out for Standard wheels. Okay, I am lazy and did not want to CLEAN the dang spokes and I wanted tubeless tires.
I have not has anyone comment about the wheels, a Road King is what it is.
I like all the extra features that the classic comes with this year, ACR's, the 103, the ABS, and the cruise is great.
enjoy your king, have it your way!

I've got both sets of bags for my bike. I run the leather bags when I strip the bike down in late summer. No lowers, no fairing or windscreen, just a set of leather RK Classic bags. I appreciate the old school look of the leather bags, but the hard bags are more practical. The leather bags do show nicks and scuffs after a couple of years, no matter how much you try to keep them looking new. Most of the time my leather bags are sitting on a shelf in the garage.
