I like the looks of turn down mufflers and am considering putting them on a 2001 EG that I am rebuilding. I currently ride a 2002 FLSTS with SuperTrapps with fishtails, but, these pipes are a little on the quiet side. the only turn downs that I can find are V&H; H-D touring mufflers with turn down caps and Samsons. I am looking for something that is louder than stock but not obnoxious and I still want to be able to hear the radio. Anyone have any experience/comments on any of these pipes or alternatives? Thanks in advance.
The guys are right they blow crap around but I ride on my bike not behind my bike and if others don't like it they better hope there bike is faster than mine Rhinehart makes a nice looking set also called eagle beaks I love my turn-downs you will like yours.
I have the S/E with the turn downs. What I did was drill holes half way between the existing holes and turn them out at a 45 degree angle. They look like side dumps on a 60's Corvette
I've got a set of SuperTrapps (slip-ons) on my 93 Electraglide. I've had them for probably ten-twelve years. The end caps are turned out, not down (they'll install either way) because I like how they sounded that way. I run 18 discs (24 possible) which is loud enough for me.
I have turndown tips on my 98 Ultra. When I bought the bike, they were turned out and I did not like the look. I turned them down so they look cool, but now they have scraped the ground on several occasions.
I have the Vance and Hines turn downs on my 05 RKC, I got them for the looks and the sound. Much louder than stock, the chrome is very good and they stick out quite a bit from the back of the bike which adds to the 50s hotrod cool...................IMO.
