MPG on my road trip to SoCal
I got around to checking my MPG on my raod trip from NoCal to SoCal. It was 1070 miles. I ran from 70 to 90 but the most of the time 75 & 80.
I use my cruise most of the time. I got 44.125 MPG. I'm all stock 2011 FLTRX 103. It was 90+ about half the trip. I was using HD 20/50 dino. It ran great. When I got home I did the 5K service & went with Redline in the engine & primary. I have been using Redline Shock Proof in trans since 1K. As long as don't have any problems I'm be leaving it stock. Of course that's what I said about my 07 FLHT STD but it made all kinds of rattles on a pull around 3000 rpm. It took me until I had 16K until I did muff,A/C & re-map.
So is that a good number?

I'd say thats pretty good mileage. I got a tad over 40 mpg from Kingman Arizona to Los Angeles on my 2004 Ultra. It's an 88 FI with Scream Eagle exhaust and a chip) This was about two months ago when the temperature was a little cooler and like you left it on cruise. (averaged about 75 with some strong side winds)

You have a beautiful bike. Not trying to spoil your emphasis here, but unless there is something making you wonder if you bike is seriously using an inordinate amount of fuel-take your mind to the freedom, the road, the country, your significant other, the camaraderie-and to hell with the gas stuff! Ride safe and enjoy that ride!!!!!

That MPG is right inline with my stage 1 09 EG Classic, and my Pal's stage 1 '11 Ultra Limited 103".
We tend to run about 65- 70ish much of the time ( 2 lane roads when we can). we get identical mileage measured over thousands of miles.
Your sharknose probably pushes through better, so you can go faster for less energy.

I got 44 MPG when mine was otherwise stock with SE AC and V&H exhaust. When I put in the cams and the 103 kit it dropped to 40 MPG. However, above a steady 75-80 MPH it dropped into the mid 30's (pre 103). I think this is because I had to keep the throttle opened enough that it put the fuel injection map into the acceleration enrichment area. Haven't had a distance opportunity since the 103 kit to see what happens in the 75-80 MPH range now.
