There also is a modification to the compensator gear to help getting lube into the bore. I have a Rivera primo pro with a lockup head in my primary and it works fine with the 40w Formula plus. My brand new SE compensator looked realy bad at 1000 miles with Redline MTL in the primary which is just like atf. Take a look at it after 1000 miles if you leave the atf in there you will see a rusty red goop coming out of the SE compensator bore which is fretting totaly starts chewing the SE compensator bore and spokes apart very quickly. I was glad to see a brand new SE compensator in the crate with the 120R i installed to replace the one that i put on the 96'' 1000 miles earlier. Clutch likes atf but compensator suffers severly, it needs a much different lubricant to survive.
Agree on the need for a good lube in the primary. After hearing all the stories about "fretting" on the SE compensator the tech that did my SE 120R install started doing some digging. Seems the "recommended" lube (according to his source at MOCO) for the SE comp is HD Formula plus. So far it is working out just fine on my 06 Street Bob with the SE 120R and no signs of fretting on the comp.

Many grind grooves into the spokes of the compensator which is supposed to aid in the lubrication process..

It's just alittle more involved than one bolt to remove the basket thats all and I love the way I have it adjusted right now.

Went to a SE Comp at 30,000 .. Told my situation of the clanks, bangs, grinds whatever wish to call them to the Dealer.. They replaced the stock with a SE free under warranty, when told them if they all have them in 2011, should be considered a stock replacement now .. Love the difference now no more noise ..

Thanks for pulling the photo. I never did find photos in my search.
In case some are wondering ~ I used a non-ferrous die-grinder bit with a die grinder, air compressor needed.

My work looked better...........JK

I used ATF because that is what the clutch manu recommended, I was not educated and took the suggestion. Aprox 1300 miles later I'm replacing the SE comp. I'm glad I saw threads like these before I made the same mistake again.
