Default Need Advice

getting ready to have a 5000 mile service done and possibly a stage one kit. i have bought slip-on Bombers from American Custom i like the sound but the gas mileage sucks. what comes with a stage 1 and can i use the stock headers what tuner should i get. I'm on a limited budget I just don't want to have to buy anything that i don't need.
i want the sound and the ability to pass maybe 1 or 2 gas stations before i have to fill up. thanks for all the help. sorry i'm talking a 11 street glide

I'm thinking of buying the American Custom bombers and the headpipe. They are made from stock harley parts, I wonder why the mileage is bad. What is your opinion as to why? Right now I getting in the mid forties for mpg depending on how I ride. I just went over the 3600 miles on mine.

I think the least costly way to go about it would be a K&N air filter element ($50) in the stock housing, your American Custom mufflers on your stock headers, and the HD Stage 1 Download ($150). You should see a measurable performance improvement without breaking the bank.

It's true that other equipment choices will provide even greater performance improvements, but they come at a significantly higher cost.

You are already getting bad gas mileage with only the slip-on mufflers installed? it's not going to get better when you add the air cleaner and tuner.

i'm curious myself as to what your gas mileage is beings all you've done is slipons, all i have is slipons and the xieds and i get high 40's on mine but mine is also a 96ci., might have a little to do with it.

Your mileage should be about 40-45 mpg unless you are really going fast and/or carry a lot of weight. My '09 has the HD Stage One DL, Stage One Air Cleaner, and V&H basic slip ons. Better power/sound and I'm getting about 40-42 mpg. There was a thread on here recently and almost everyone with this set up or close was getting the same mileage. What are you getting?
