Default CB radio

If you have harley radio and want to get a cb installed with intercom. what parts do you need and what is the cost? I have an 2008 Electra glide standard. I only have the harman kardon radio and controls on the handlebars. I do not have a tourpak. Also for you guys who have this, is it worth it?

If you are a solo rider and want to add the headset set up, check the Headset kit I just listed here on the HD Forum. With this you will still need the Non-Ultra Wiring Harness (70169-06) and CB (76416-06C). I found the CB on eBay for a lot less than retail from Harley. Just be sure to get the correct part number.

And this is for any '06 and later using the HK radio. It will not work on the pre '05 Radio Sound units.

HD sells a kit for your application (i.e. adding CB/intercom w/o tour pak), Boom Audio Music and Intercom kit, p/n 77108-09A. Here are the installation instructions for the kit, and at the end there is a service parts list of what's included (which should answer some of your questions about what's needed):

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J04977.pdf

In addition to the kit, you'll need the 70169-06 non-Ultra overlay harness, CB module, CB antenna, and rider/passenger headsets.

I installed the kit on my '04 EG when I also retrofitted the HD Harman Kardon radio and described the installation in this thread:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...tra-glide.html

The CB is worth it to me since I do a fair amount of group rides with others who have CB's.

HD makes another kit for intercom w/o CB, p/n 77107-09, that is very similar to the 77108-09A kit. However, if you get the 77107 kit and later decide to add HD's CB module, there is a lot of wiring modification to do in order to adapt the intercom kit to work with the changes necessary for the CB; better to simply get the 77108 kit and the NUOH if you think it likely you're going to add CB.

Of course, all of the above applies only if you have a HD Harman Kardon radio. If the bike is '05 or older, and has the OEM radio supplied by Radio Sound, the above info is largely irrelevant since the RS radio has an integrated CB/intercom and can't be retrofitted.

Suggestion: Put in post the model and year of your bike.

Carl

I am doing the install on a friends 2010 Classic... Got the CB module in, but the radio still says "see dealer" message when I press the Comm button. Does my local dealer need to flash the HK system to get it to work?

I put this on mine and it was worth it. I looked around and bought all the parts used, either of this forum or on ebay.
