I own a 2009 Streetglide that goes into "limp home" mode every now and then. The dealer told me that it was poor contacts in the throttle module on the handlebar. (told them about it in warrantee but, they could not "duplicate" the problem) I am a 65 year old rider who is pretty easy on the throttle but, the other day I cranked it to 4K or so and limp mode showed up. Sounded like the engine was coming apart. There is plenty of oil in the bike. I shut off the bike and waited 5 minutes until the check engine light went out. Then I accelerated it again and I was able to bring on limp mode again. If I ride easy, not over 3500 rpm, it is fine. Anyone here ever experience this?
Dielectric grease does not make a better connection, it just helps to prevent corrosion and if you use too much it can actually impede electrical current due to its insulative properties.

Mark, I experianced a similar problem with my 2010 SG. After about 10-12 miles she would dump into "limp mode"...And I would limp home. Little scary in traffic ! Well anyway it seems when I put on new grips I somehow pinched or tweaked the electronic throttle in the harness putting on the new grip, which in turn dumped into the "limp mode". A simple fix....this time. I don't know, the cables and a carburetor maybe "old school", but my 78 shovel never let me down!
