Default compensating sprocket

Has anyone welded there sprocket instead of going with a replacement and if so how did the fix turn out? I understand folks who race do this all the time?
Thanks

You will feel more of the engine pulse and your drive train will get pounded.

if you want to defeat the purpose of the compensator, you can just replace it with a sprocket.

I used to run the EVO 30T direct sprocket replacement for the compensator sprocket.

The engineer in me says that the shock loads will increase on the drive train, and this could cause accelerated wear.

On the other hand I have gone and put 180 odd flywheel hp thru an otherwise stock drive train, so how could this be worse?
