Default 2 ohm 4 ohm

I need some help from all of you tech guys. I have J & M speakers in my sg and just got the Rockford punch amp. The amp is 4 ohm and the 2 speakers are 2 ohm. Is there a way to wire them so that I don't melt the amp? I'd hate to have to purchase new speakers unless I have to.

Not recommended. Its not wiring, the amp is designed to drive 4 ohm speakers not 2 ohm.

only if you get a 2 ohm resistor and wire it in series--- in which case it would chew up alot of power.

looks like speaker shopping time to get something that'll match your amp

Totally agree....you would be better off if it was the other way around then you could parallel the speaker connections with a 4 ohm resistor but you would do better to get the proper speakers in this case....

Do they quote an impedance tolerance on the Amp? Agree with others though, if in doubt get new speakers

That's a shame. Now which speakers? I'm a metal head and like loud music.

best sound you'll get is earbuds then.

good enough for mustaine....

quality buds will cost $500 and up, easy to wire into your stock stereo.

save the rockford for another project
