I just bought a 2011 flhtk. Am I wasting my time with slipons and a stage one kit? Right now I'm short on funds. for a $2500 true dual setup. I know this bike has a cat conv.
I say no. I got Vance & Hines Power Duals on mine. You won't believe the heat you'll get rid of. I would think you could do that, and Rush slip-ons, a heavy breather, a Super Pro Race Tuner, and a good tune on a dyno for alot less than $2500. Might as well do it right.
Slip-ons are a poor man's solution, don't waste your time. My advice: ride the bike for a year or so to see if you have any problems, save your money, and do your homework on what you want. And $2500 is completely ridiculous! I bought my full set of Rinehart TD's for $800 to my door, and that's the most expensive part of a stage 1.

If you go with Rush slip-ons and keep the bike stock, use the 2.50" baffle and no tuning is required.
Our true duals and slip-ons can be purchased for a total of $797.90 msrp.
A tuning device will also be required.
All of our true duals and full systems are ceramic coated inside and out.
This will decrease the headpipe temp by 300 deg!

V&H Dresser Duals, V&H Basic Slip-ons, SE Ventilator. All for less than $1200.00. If you get an HD tune downloaded at the dealership, you can add $100.00. If you get your own fuel mapping device, you can add $350.00 to $500.00. I personally like my own fuel mapping device so I do not get a program that runs lean. I use the Power Vision.
I just added the Vance and Hines slip ons only onto my 2011 Electra glide limited. I did it only for better sound was not looking for power or heat reduction and I'm very satisfied with the results. Now it sounds like a Harley. Not too loud but a nice rumble.
