Keep your eyes open guys. I know you hear it a lot on this forum but this vid just goes to show you that it can happen. Be vigilant! http://home1.gte.net/res0ak9f/1bikestop.gif
Dumbass in the truck was too busy rubbernecking the cop. You can plainly see that he didn't even brake until he was about 20 feet away from the biker. The only guy that saw that coming was the poor biker, but by the time he saw it, he didn't even have time to get off. Hopefully her survived his injuries. And HOPEFULLY they used that in car tape to hang the driver out to dry. Moron.[:@]
Just curious, is there a website with gory pictures from automobile wrecks? I get it--motorcycling is dangerous. So is breathing in a smoky bar! I think it is pathetic for a bunch of "don't run with scissors" people to post pictures of poor accident victims in order to get their point across. Ride defensively and wear good protective gear, and say a prayer for the riders who are shamelessly displayed on this disgusting website. [sm=why.gif]
I don't quite know what to think of this website. Is the intent behind it to demean the memories of the bikers that were killed in those wrecks? OR...is the intent behind it sort of a "tough love" thing, to make bikers think twice and pay closer attention to traffic, and their own driving actions?
It might be disgusting...but in the motorcycle world, serious accidents are a risk we take. Not thinking about it, doesn't make that risk go away.....maybe an eye opener every now and then doesn't hurt.
It a interesting website, but in my opinion doesent tell the whole story. We all know that the more miles you ride and PRACTICE, the less chance you have of being killed...right. The stats dont say how long the rider has been riding. If you rode as a teen and then get an Ultra when your 40, you ARE a beginer again, and need to PRACTICE riding skills or become a statistic!!!
I practice all the time in parking lots and the such and I am alot more causious than some of the people I ride with, but then again I have had "the big one" and I dont want to be laid up for a year again. Was it the cage's fault...yes and no...he was speeding and I was stupid. Will I make that mistake again...no. I learned that I need to be more aware and KNOW my bike better.
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE...is the only solution and assume that KNOWONE can see you. JMHO.
