I've got this same kind of issue right now. Just put on new bars and when I went to adjust, I stripped out one of the allen heads on the bar clamp. There are several ideas on this thread, but which is going to be best for this situation?

As always, thanks guys.

Lesson learned here fellas with those pesky lousy stinking allen head lower fork leg bolts?

Make sure you start out using an impact wrench with a brand new allen head socket.

Replace the allen head bolts with torx head bolts when done, just in case you have to get into those pesky fork lowers again.

I hate easy outs, they cause more hassle than they are worth.

I am pleased you managed to get the broken one out, often you won't be that lucky

Northside, I am Interested in the ball bearing solution, haven't come across that before. You don't mention what size ball relative to the head, could you supply more info please

In the course of my occupation I ran into a ton of 1/4-20 SHCS that had the heads turned out. For those I use a 3/8 to 1/2" ball bearing. Just so the ball is larger than the socket and still centers itself into the socket when you lay it on there. Give it a good whack or two. Watch your fingers. The impact of hitting it combined with the swaging the socket does the trick. Whack it until you have to tap the allen wrench into the socket. I made a set of T handles from 1/2" round stock. Used 1/4" for cross piece and they are great for tapping into a swaged allen socket. Seriously I have removed at least a thousand turned out allens this way over the years. I really can't remember a time that it failed.
