Backfire

Hello All
I have a 02 Road King F I Vance and Hines Slip on Mufflers
Power commander Getting a bit of a back fire when letting off the throttle.
Is it timing

K. . You either have an exhaust leak or it's running lean and you need to add fuel with either a fuel pak or tuner.

A little decel popping is not unusual, however, unless its excessive I dont think you need to spend hundreds of dollars to fix it.

You will find this has been talked about a lot on here. You either need to increase fuel at the closed throttle position or you have an exhaust leak. You might be able to get away with tightening the headpipe bolts, but be careful not to do too much. It probably won't work, but it is worth a try. You should also put a light by the muffler where it attaches to the headpipe then look in the exhaust to see if you can see any light. If so you need to seal the mufflers. If still not fixed you will probably need to take the exhaust off and check the entire system for cracks. A common place for cracks is at the y pipe off the rear cylinder. Put new headpipe gaskets on. Good luck.
