Like others have posted,
If you are going through bikes like you said, I don't think it's worth it. You will
get lots of different thoughts. How many miles do you put on your scoot? Do you plan on keeping this scoot forever? ETC, ETC.
If you decide, it maybe worth it to wait till your 2 year plan is almost done and then get the extended warr.
You can go on line and get it for 20% off and save some dough.
For me, I decide to get the full 5 year program. If you break it down, it's like $20 or $30 bucks a month for peice of mind. By the way, It has PAID for it's self already.
Lots of different opinions and you need to decide whats BEST for YOU!

If you're planning on hanging on to the bike, and you're planning on putting some miles on it, then it makes sense. My bike is just shy of 23 months old, has 44,000 miles on it, and so far has had the rear pulley and IDS replaced, the compensator twice, the stereo, the stator, the breathers, the umbrella valves, the rocker arms, the clutch, and various other odds and ends. No f-n way I'd consider keeping and riding this thing the way I do without the ESP.

You can get the money back when you trade in or sell your bike. IMO, it's worth it.

I got the 5 year warranty and it's paid for it's self 3 times over. Most on out of state long road trips. I do put over 25,000 miles a year on though. If you are just a casual rider(less then 10,000 mi. a year) it might not be worth it.

Extended Warranty is worth the $$$
1. If you cancel it you get back a prorated refund
2. Most dealers will give you more on trade with it as well
3. It is transferrable to a new owner
Keep in mind 2 years are incl with the bike, so 4 years is actually 2, 6 is actually 4 etc.
I just bought the 6 year - adding 4 years to my scoot.

As much as I’ve harped on the fact that you shouldn’t have to buy an extended warranty, I actually wish I had bought one in my case. That’s all I’ve got to say about that.

whatever you do, don't take what someone else says as gospel without checking it out first. when i asked my dealer about getting the money back on the esp if i didn't use it, he said that they no longer sell that one. the problem being that any warranty claim will negate that, even during the initial 2 years factory period. so what would end up happening is that people would not bring their bikes in for a 'small' warranty issue so they could get their money back, but that small issue would turn into a large issue. so now, the guys bike is down, he is not getting any money back anyway, and it could have been fixed easily before.Originally Posted by inaroush

you could always wait and see how the bike acts during the factory warranty period. if it seems solid, skip it. if, however, it seems like the shop is it's second home, then go ahead and get it. yes, it's more expensive if you wait instead of getting it at deal time, but only like $150-200....
also, if you had the extended warranties on both of your other bikes, i hope you either got some cash for them at trade, or you cancelled them and got a refund. which brings up another point, if you cancel your extended warranty, it is prorated from the date of delivery of your bike, not from the end date of the factory warranty. so if you go for the 4 year (2 year extension) and cancel it on the last day of the factory warranty, you will only get 50% of the cost back. just something to be aware of.
