What kind of truck & what kind of dresser ? The data I would need to tabulate a response would the model specs on the truck (bed length) and the dresser (length).
6-ft = too short & definitely not good idea to drive in over lowered tailgate...those little support cables/brackets are not rated to hold 800+ lbs. Have to ask why you plan to load bike in truck?
I have not put the Ultra in my pickup yet, but I hauled my Roadstar to Florida with no issues whatsoever. The tailgait is more than capable of holding the weight putting it on. The rear axle was even or just short by about an inch of the end of the bed, so once loaded the weight was carried by the bed and not the tailgait. Had to leave the tailgate down though. The truck is an extended cab short bed Chevy Silverado.

I have an 01 Chevy and there was a recall on the tailgate cables in 04. I kinda laughed it off untill I was getting ready to load some paver bricks and noticed one side of the gate hanging a little lower than the other. The left cable was rusted through under the sheath. It seems when the gate is closed bothe ends of the sheath point up and it would fill up with rain water and corrode the cable. The warranty replacements were SS and I have not had any problems riding my 650 lb shovel over the gate but I would be concerned with the 850 + lbs of the Ultra. Could get complicated a cable let go in the middle of a ride on.
