Default Want to upgrade my cams

I want to upgrade my cams in a 2001 EG. It is a stock twin cam 88 but I have no ideal on what size cams I want. I looked at S&S and I do like the easy start cams but not sure on the size. Don't someone sell a complete kit including adjustable push rods, cam bearings and and gaskets? What would you recommend?

Thanks

If you stay with the 88 I would look at some other options due to the stock compression. I would recommend the SE 204 cams, which are I believe are 2 sizes over stock. I love the range it gives me either solo or 2 up. Opinions on here about cams could go on forever. As with me I told you what I have and like. I'm sure there are other great options. The best advice would be to go and talk to your local Harley dealer and just pick their brains, maybe even try a few different dealerships and see if they have any good insight. It really depends on what kind of power range your looking for. Good Luck.

Not too many cams that work well with the low compression in a stock TC88. If you do a big bore kit, go to 95 or 98, there's a whole world of possibilities. If you just want to swap cams, not mess with jugs and heads, then you should look closely at the Andrews 21. It's a good all-around performer, and works well in a stock TC88 motor.

Another possibility is to talk to TR at Tman performance. He could point you in a direction that you would be comfortable with. His phone number is listed on his website. If interested, here it is:

I figured the Woods TW-6 was a good candidate?

Adding to what boogaloodude said, if you go the added cost of the big bore kit, ( not expensive,) and your compression runs to 9.4 to 1 or so, you can go with the Andrews 26G ( gear drive cams,) and you'll swear you're on a different motorcycle.

(Your 2001 has the strong hot forged crank with Timken bearing and gear drive cams are considered bulletproof in that application.)

That's where mine is and I'm pulling around 85 hp with torque in the mid 90's, get 46 mpg and the bike's as reliable as ever.

There's a great article written by Joe Minton on the Amercian Rider site. The cams he is talking about are the Andrews 21's.

I don't how they compare to the stock cams in your early model TC88, but they sure made a difference in my '06. If you are not looking at "building" your engine, this is a cheap way to raise the effective compression pressure and give you a very noticeable "down low" torque increase.

Do Andrews 26 and if you ever go 95" you will still be good to go...

Here's the dyno chart for my TC88, stage one, with Andrews 21's.

Note the torque is already there at 2250 rpm's, just as Joe Minton wrote.
