Took the Ultra down for mods. I recently purchased a 2009 exhaust system off a 2009 (no cat). The head pipe is in for a ceramic coat. There is a thundermax on the shelf waiting for the pipe to get done.
I am really hoping the no cat pipe improves the heat issue on the right foot as well as not melting the brake light switch. Also hoping to get a little better sound out of the (new to me) 2009 screaming eagle slip-ons. They are a big improvement over the stock slip ons.
Really hoping these mods in addition to a stage 1 air filter get the ultra feeling like my old softail. Right now it is sort of feels like it can't get out of it's own way.
Will do a follow on post to let all know how things went, as well as my impressions of how this has changed the performance of the bike.
Got the pipe back from ceramic coating, installed head pipe and thundermax. Took about 5 hours to do the whole job. Only had a chance to ride around the block. I will have to take it out tomorrow and see how it really runs.
Thundermax provides very good install instructions. Laptop synced and loaded the base map with no problems.
So far so good.
