Has anyone broken a switch cap during a chrome switch cap install? I Just did a complete chrome control install with the chrome sitch caps on my 2011 Street Glide. Glad I did it myself but what a pain. I scuffed up my right turn signal cap pretty badly trying to get it all together. Harley has no option other than to buy a whole new switch cap kit. I thought I wuld start this thread and if anyone else has damaged a cap and had to buy a whole new kit for one, I would offer to buy just the right turn signal to help recoup there cost. If no one has any and I end up having to buy a kit I would be willing to do the same for others.
Try hittin up the service dept. of ur local dealers. I broke my starter cap, stopped in and asked if they had any extra layin around and they did. Gave it to me free of charge. Also just picked up a left turn cap for my buddy the same way last weekend as he broke his too!! Tip: If installin these in cold weather use a heat gun on the caps to "soften" them up abit, but don't hold the gun too close as they will melt!!

Great idea! However, my switch cap kit is arriving in a few days to replace the one broken cap. And yes, they truly are a pain.
They were both in chrome!! Ya gotta figure every service dept. has to have extra caps layin around cause everybody has broken a couple one time or another, even HD techs!!
2nd asking the dealer, they took care of me when I broke two while putting them on. They said the techs hated putting them on because they always seem to break one while doing them.
When I picked up the replacements I thrw them up on the defroster vents in the truck for the drive home. Left the truck running once I got home and did them one at a time while the other "cooked/heated" in the truck.
