2011 SEUC. About 3000 miles. Under braking it feels like a warped rotor. I have confirmed it's one of the front two since I don't feel it when I use only the rear brake. This is the last thing I expected so soon since my '05 Fatboy and '07 Ultra never had a brake issue.
I do not "ride" the brakes nor am I hard on them. I actually feel I use the rear more than the front especially during slow speed maneuvers.
Short of taking it to the dealer any suggestions/comments are welcome. Speaking of the dealer would you folks say this should be covered under warranty?
...yup..I got the same thing goin on...17K on the bike...looks like one, or both of the front rotors is warped...real strong "pulsating" feeling when I apply front brakes...only remedy I ever heard of is replacement...some people might try to have rotors "turned'..I wouldn't..good luck
My 2011 Ultra Limited has a vibration during breaking, and has had it since new. I thought it was a warped rotor and took the bike into the dealership to check it out. They told me everything was normal, it was just vibration. It feels very different than my 05 ultra. One test I performed was to turn the motor off and apply brakes going downhill. They were right, my bike transfers alot of motor vibration and when I turned off the engine my brakes were smooth as silk. I especially notice it when taking speed off on the highway without using the clutch.
You may want to give this a try. I still don't like feeling all of this vibration during braking but don't know what else to do?? Motor mounts, belt tension???
take it to your dealer to have the run out checked. if it is warped, it will be covered by warranty. if its out of warranty get some floating rotors and the vibration should be gone
When you replace them, as another posted noted, get 'floating' rotors. I got a set (to fit 08+) of Harley branded off eBay for $328. This was to replace a warped rotor. (I got it hot with two hard stops, back-to-back, and that's all it took for it to warp. The Harley stock rotors are fine, until you use them hard. Then they're going to warp).
A skilled metalurgist (sp) can actually straighten rotors...ive seen it done after somebody tried to break the beads on a couple rims with the rotors still mounted. A little heat in the right spot and a tap with a hammer and it pulled right back.
Im not a mechanic but could it be something else like the steering head nut came loose or a bad set of front wheel bearings? Something else simple, have you checked your air pressure?
