This is what I try to understand what you've meant: the cam gear is not lined up (one tooth off), but both sprockets are lined up.
Correct me if I am wrong.

This could be a guess, would it be possible you slightly rotated your oil pump? It would explain sprockets lining up, and your cam being a tooth off. But as someone mentioned about that S&S video, it's your best friend on this job.

The crank shaft sprocket will only go in the crankshaft in one position. The cam shaft (rear cam) sprocket will only go on the camshaft in one position. You can have the timing marks on these two sprockets lined up while at the same time having the front cam in the wrong position if it was installed in the wrong position. If that is what you are asking?

Remember you have two alignments: Cam to Cam first, and then one of those cams to the crank. They both have to be right.

The answer is yes!
The rear cam sprocket (large outside gear) will only mate to the camshaft as one position, and even the crank sprocket (small outside gear) can also insert to the oil pump shaft at a fixed position, but the oil pump shaft can be rotated to another position, so two sprockets can be mis-aligned.
But then, I am wrong most of the time, so someone may correct me on this one.
BTW.: You should use the correct terms, so people understand what you've meant.
