i just purchased a 2006 electra glide and it is smoking when i start it and when i rev it up. the smoke smells like gas. also the headlights horn and front turn signals just quit working. can anyone give me some advice. thanks

 

Is the smoke white or black?

 

Why did you buy it! Smoke could be many things. What color is the smoke blue white or black. How do the plugs look. How old is the fuel. Welcome to the forum.

 

Did the Bike have WD-40 sprayed all over the engine to make it look good? Just a thought. It will smoke until it burns off. Not sure about the other issues thou. Good Luck!

 

did you check the fuse box to see if you blew fuses. I would start there with the electrical. good luck, hope it is nothing serious

 

when i purchased the bike it had none of these problems. it seemed perfect. after i took it home i realized that it had fowled a plug so i replaced those. bike ran great again and i figured the rich smell of gas and the smoke was because the injector may have flooded the cylinder and it was just clearing out. it has gotted a bit better, but still there. the smoke is white and has a raw smell of gas.

 

i put new gas in it and did check all the fuses. i also checked to see if a wire was pinched at the left hand switches.

 

the bike had screaming eagle heads and upgraded pistons, crankshaft, powercommander etc done about 8k ago.

 

You might have the early 8deg injectors and not the 25's. I think they had some issues and if it hasnt run much before you got it it might have a stuck ring and need some heavy handed ridding but need to sort everything out first.
