Ordered my LA Choppers Prime Apes and all the fixins today. Can't wait for them to get here so I can start the install. Going to do the labor myself, local HD shop wanted $800 and a local Indy said he would do it for $500. No thanks!
Very cool. I think that is going to be my next project, but I think I am going with PYO Monkey Bagger bars. The LA Choppers ones are really nice, but I don't want to go that high. (Prolly going with the 10's). Going to be a bit of time before the wifey forgets about my latest purchase. Hopefully buy the end of summer. LOL
I was looking at the PYO 10's myself but after much time sitting on the bike and measuring etc.. I decided on the Prime Apes. Figured I would probably end up kicking myself if I went with the 10's so here we go... My other addiction is guitars, I just picked up a 1997 SRV Stratocaster and a 2011 52' American Vintage Reissue Telecaster in the past 2 weeks. Now have 6 guitars on stands in the Family room.. Another Hobby Gone Out Of Control
My wife has been very good about it all. I am a lucky man!
My Prime Apes come in today and I started taking fairing off last night. All went pretty smooth up until the folding the fairing back. That was a nice little hiccup to an otherwise smooth process thus far. Today when i get the bars Im splicing and soldering all the wires and then starting the daunting task of snaking them through the bars.
The TBW looks like one major PITA. I think I am just going to cut all connectors off and solder those wires together as well. Ill have to check around to make sure that doesnt affect the throttles sensitivity or function.
Bars (black), cables (non ABS/black), wire extensions, TBW extension and poly bushing just around $600 shipped (Cheaper than a guitar...). LA said that you dont need the bushing if yours is not worn out but for $39 it seems stupid to not change it out while I'm in there.
