I have the same problem. My wife doesnt like it when I have my back rest on. The only way around it is the Kuryakyn kit. I think it will move the tour pack back 3 inches. I just dont think I would like the looks of it back that far. I just take the back rest off when she rides. The next time I have her on the back I am going to try to just straighten my back rest and see if that helps
I have the tour-pak on my 06 Ultra all the way back and the wife can't ride there with my back rest on, I just take it off. The only ones that seem to be able to ride in the back with a back rest on are those that are very thin. If the wife has any meat on her bones your out of luck using the back rest while she is on the bike. The only folks that can get away with the Kuryakyn bracket are those that have a tall or long legged wife. If she is short or has short leggs then moving the tour-pak back farther with the Kuryakyn bracket will cause her leggs to dig into the saddle bag bars.
the wife certainly isn't what i would call slim (god, i hope she doesn't read this!). she is 5'6" and doesn't have any issues with the saddle bag guards with the tour pac set back with the Kury kit. but, the add-on leather drink holders that mount on the guards would cause her problems.
My wife is 5'4" and the saddle bag guard cuts into her leg. The tour pack is in the stock back position. I'm wondering if I can raise the rear floorboards about an inch????? Has anyone done this?
Not True, my 03 with kwik releases has two postions.
I understand it has two positions. Comes from the factory in the back position. Just not far enough for the wife with the back rest installed. I like my back rest all the way back
