Default on board compressor

Would it be possible to use an on board compressor, sorta like the one that has been discussed on here, with the stock air shocks? Not to be slammed, just to adjust air pressure on the fly.

I just dropped a few bucks on a solo seat w/backrest, passenger seat, Kuryakyn Cruise Boards, and ordered pipes, PC3, and Ness Big Sucker. Not sure which shocks, but down the road I may change those. So far, coming off a Dyna, this suspension rides like a Caddy, so I am not sure which direction I wantg to go with new shocks...

You would need to put a pressure relief valve in the system set to dump the pressure at about 40 PSI to avoid over pressurizing the stock shocks.

Correct. My question is, would I use an adjustable, or fixed "dump" valve? I am looking through an Air Products catalog and have seen so many different styles and sizes. I will have my seat off in the next day or 2 to install the new seat, and I will get some measurements. I am pretty sure this is a very simple and easy installation. We install and use air-actuated controls in process units in refineries all of the time, so the concept is fairly well understood on this end.....

You would need 2 unless your adjustable had a max setting that would auto dump at 40 psi.

I couldn't use one, upstream of the "T"?

I was toying with....coming out of the compressor, "T" off, one line to a pressure guage, the other line to a dump valve. Come off of the dump valve to a "T", and taking a line to each shock. Wire the compressor to a momentary switch that could be actuated by my left thumb, beside the radio control button.

Just thinking out loud....

I'd think it would have to be a very slow pumping compressor. There ain't much volume in there and it would be hard to fine tune if it went from 0 to 40lbs instantly, even if the dump valve did save 'em from blowing up.

Thats a good point on the compressor I am sure there is a low volume one that would work.

I am going to replace the stock shocks, probably, so I will use these to dial in the setup. I will go by a couple of suppliers at lunch, and see about getting a few different valves, and regulators, compressor, etc. When I get home tonight, I'll pull the seat, and 'cipher a way to mount the system.

If the stock shocks go, oh well. If they don't, then all the better. I'm not looking to "slam", just on-the-fly adjusting of the air suspension.
