I am tired of the rough ride on my 07 Street Glide. Has anybody lifted the lowered rear end with typical shocks? And if so was the ride better. I mainly ride two up with momma and we travel a bit with a lot of stuff, over loaded I am sure. Any info will be appreciated, thanks

Yes I have raised my Street Glide up 1" using longer shocks. The ride is better.
I went with the new HD premium ride standard height 13" and the ride is MUCH better. Unfortunately these are spec'ed for 09 and up. If by typical you mean the ultra air shocks, I have read on this forum that they improve the ride of the SG.
A lot of threads recently about rear shocks, be ready to do some reading and do a search on them. Many agree that going back to the 13" version of any shock will improve the ride. How much depends on what shock and how much $ you want to spend. But bottom line is the 12" SG or RGC shocks only have about 2" travel so going to a 13" or a 12" longer travel shock will improe the ride.
For the cheap way, just change the shock oil to a 7.5w, or Mobil 1 Synthetic Tranny Fluid which has similar characteristics. There are several threads on that here.
I ended up getting the Ricor rear shocks, which are fine, but eventually I will call Howard and get some Ohlins - more out of curiosity than necessity.
I like the look of the lowered rear end, so if I could get a shock with the short travel and get a better ride that would work. I am not really sold on the air shock system, more air stiffer ride. I live in nothrn Illinois home of the worst roads in the USA, really. So I have to decide, give up the lower rear or find and tust the ads about short travel nonair shocks or go with 13in shocks and have the EG look. I am looking at the Progressive 440, any opinions about those?

the progressive 940 is supposed to give you the 13'' ride with a 12'' stance..... might look into that.
