You want the pbr300x2 if only running two speakers. And although it is capable of running 2 ohm speakers, you want 4 ohm.

The reason harley uses 2 ohm speakers is because they are louder but they have more distortion. 4 ohm speakers will be more clear but require more power. The pbr300x2 has enough power at 4 ohms to push some great speakers.

Forget all this bike specific stuff like hog wired or biketronics, go to a car audio store and have an actual pair of speakers paired up with the amp you choose. I got alpine spr60c speakers which are 4 ohm and rated for 110 watts rms. Ill get much more bang for your buck when looking at car audio as opposed to buy car audio. Everything is made out of some sort of all poly product so it's all weatherproof. It's not like this things going to be sitting underneath the waterfall.

The original discussion of the PBR300x2 amp is stable to 2 ohm and the PBR300x4 is only stable to 4 ohm.

I think your first idea is probably a fine one. If you plan on using only two speakers the amp will deliver a nice 100 watts for 4 ohm or 150 for 2ohm. This way if you put in the 4 ohm focals and later decide you want two more speakers you could wire them in parallel and still get 75 watts to each speaker, which I believe would satisfy most people. Now if you know you want more right off the bat, then your probably looking for a totally different set up.

 

according to Rockford Fosgate the 300x2 is completely compatible and stable at 2 Ohms as well as 4 ohms, unlike the 300x4 which they want to use at 4 ohms... But if 100 watts per speaker is enough then I will look for some 4 ohm speakers for my bike ....thanks for the help , now all I gotta do is find some good 6.5" speakers ... suggestions anybody ????

Go check out the alpine spr60c. They are 150 a set and include the speakers, crossovers and tweeters. You will have to install the tweeters separate of the speakers...but a job worth doing is a job worth doing right. You're already in there, might as well do the work required to make it sound good.

I think these are a perfect pair for this amp as they handle 110 watts rms.
