Default Putting hitch on 06 Ultra

I would like to put a hitch on my 06 Ultra so I can pull a small tent trailer. For those who have done this can you tell me the do's and don'ts for a safe set-up. Any pics of your set-up would help me out. Also, when pulling down the road what to keep in mind for safety purposes. Thanks.

I couldn't tell by the photo, do you have electrical hook-up? When pulling down the road do you encounter any swaying by the trailer? Thanks

Don't be surprised if you're told that warranty claims will be rejected. The MoCo doesn't respond well on this.

Thanks, I hadn't thought about the effects to warranty.

I have an 06 ultra. I bought a hitch from the dealeryou have to remove the side bags and it bolts to the frame. Very easy to install and looks smart. I pull an Leesure Lite trailer. At highway speedsI don't even know it's there. At slow tight turns (like in a parking lot)it is tricky you get almost like a high speed wobblebut you soon get used to it. The only other neg. is a little lack of power over mountain passes but the dealer tells me about 6000.00 dollars would fix that. (He sure is helpful) Hope that helps

Thanks Jurgen. The Leesure Lite trailer is what I'm looking at to use. Does the hitch come with electrical hook-up?

Ultrafan, Check out the hitches from Hitch Doc: http://www.hitchdoc.com They have hitches for most Harley models. I have their Street Glide version. It is a virtical receiver hitch so nothing shows when the hitch/ball is not installed. Here is a picture of mine. Sorry about the quality of the photo but it gives a good idea of what it looks like & how it works.

Ride Safe,

Mike
