I have this on my 07 SG. Very comfortable and giving much needed support for my back.
this will fit your bike I think: http://www.utpr.com/flht.html
this is what I have on my SG :http://www.utpr.com/roadking.html

specs are here: http://www.utpr.com/backrest.html

after having back surgery three different times, I found this to be better than anything else I've tried...fully adjustable up & down..forewards and back.

Here's to a fast recovery!!

Default For What It's Worth

I have the HD adjustable backrest with a Sundowner seat on my RK. I bought the adjustable and am glad I did. It allows me to adjust every so often on the fly for comfort (changeup) as well as accomodate for how heavilly I'm dressed. It is definately moved more rearword during the winter months than when dressed lighter during warmer days! Mine is on all the time and I wouldn't consider riding without it!

Default Stock HD adjustable

Love the stock HD adjustable. Having the option to adjust on the fly is huge Mike. Unlike many, I didn't find the stock RK seat that bad for long trips but never happy, I sent it in to MCC a few weeks ago to see how much better it can in fact be. Good luck on the back recovery.

sundowner with the mustang backrest, does the job for me.
I've had several back surgeries, and can't ride as much as I would like to,
but this combination makes me as comfortable as possible.
My other setup is a corbin close solo, with corbin backrest.

I've had a Mustang seat & backrest on my sportster for several years. Need to add one to the Road King now, makes a world of difference. I kind of like the Utopia, their web site says just bolt on, anyone ever installed one and how/ where does it bolt to? Is their foam a good quality ? One could always have memory foam installed if it was needed.

I have an 09 FLHTC, I use a SG seat in town and the Ultra seat when touring ( hopefully).

I see the H-D, read a nice write up from IDI on modifying his so the bracket is concealed, I see Mustang has one on their website.

Who is using which one and who is happy ( or sad) with their choice.

I don't have much interest in the adjustable style at this point, just the fixed, figure I should be able to adjust it for comfort and prevent sciatica.

Thanks, Mike

I am debating on doing IDI's mod on my bracket as mine looks very similar to his. But I wonder if it will affect backrest fitment on other seats, or will you be limited to just he stock seat?

I had a Mustang seat with the backrest on my Nightrain that I bought for my trip to Maggie Valley. I thought it seemed to slip down easily as was mentioned earlier. Still a quality product tho. I bought it used off the classifeds. I didn't get to use it much as I traded for my SG the weekend before my trip.

I met a guy at the motel I stayed at in Maggie Valley that had the Utopia backrest on this Ultra Limited and he liked it quite a bit

Thanks Guys,

i'm going to review these posts and figure out which seems to work for me.

( I have ridden a bunch with the adjustable- it was ok, but I'd probably like sleeker and less spendy.)

Anyone selling a used backrest system, pm me.

Both of our UCs first thing was upgraded HD seats with Mustang seat and backrest and in our opinion this is the best combo for us.

I've got a Mustang seat on my 98 RKC and just added the backrest. So far it's not all that and a bag of chips. It won't adjust far back enough. I've added a few washers to tilt the bracket back and am planning on adding more to get it back farther. If that doesn't work, it's sledgehammer time for the upright.

The old stock HD backrest was a total POS, just like the stock seat.
