Default Storing bike outside under plastic

Does anyone store their bike outside under a platic cover? I live in an apartment and I don't have anywhere to put my bike when it rains. I am thinking about covering it up with platic when it rains. I am going to put some brick on the edge ogf the plastic so it doesn't nlow off.

I was wondering how many riders on this forum are faced with this same dillema and how it is working out for them?

thanks

Plastic is SURE to scratch the bike, no matter how careful you are.
A better alternative is one of those portable garages.. like this one

not for long periods, you don't want to trap moisture where is can cause corrosion.

2.) wind flapping tarps or plastic sheeting will scuff paint

3.) bricks or objects tied to, or wrapped into the tarp can flail and bash your bike. if you use weights have them so that they will just roll to the side if the wind comes up.

years ago my employer put me 400 miles away in a corp apt.
I was able to get a ground floor unit and remove the railing on the balcony- bike into the dining room ( shhh)

I'm on my 3rd Harley and all 3 of them have lived outside. I have never had a problem with rust or even waterspots after a rain storm. Just buy a decent weatherproof cover and you'll be fine. If you buy a good one, it'll have a softer material on the inside that won't scratch paint.

Buy a Honda cover so you can be in stealth mode.

I like that cycle shell thing. Years ago I used a 3 man dome tent.

Walmart sells plain gray motorcycle covers for under 30 bucks. They fit good, keep the moisture out and have tie downs to hold it in place. Your situation kind of sucks .. pretty much why I got rid of my bike after going into the army many years ago.

Plastic is a huge NO-NO!! I had a buddy who stored a cherry 74 MGB under plastic in a garage while away in service.. came home and unwrapped it to find a rust bucket!!!... I use the Wallmart cover in my garage and am very happy with it.. but for outside you might want to spend some more $$$ on a better breathable cover.Might look into a cheap inclosed trailer with a ramp...alot of nice ones on Craigslist.Lock it up good..Out of Sight,Out of Mind!!!!!Good Luck... Tim :-)

Don't use plastic, spend a few bucks on a motorcycle cover,it'll keep the water out and it breaths.
