samething happened with the chevy dealers I now have to take the day off if I need my truck serviced and carry it 120 miles to a dealer.
Look at it this way the little small after market harley shops should just get better.

If I need a lawn mower I'm still going to Lowes or Home Depot. Big business is the way of life in America, and that's just the way it is. Good luck with your new ride. I have a feeling you will be back soon.

If you want a Victory, then by all means buy one. I've test drove several of them and they all seem solidly built.

Nothing personal here, but it serves no purpose to come to the HD forum and broadcast your intentions to retaliate against HD by purchasing a Victory. HD has a business strategy that seems to be working. Times change. Businesses close and businesses open. That's the way it is. Emotion has little place in business dealings. Maybe the new CEO learned a few lessons and gained some valuable experience in his pre-Harley worklife. You know what they say, the only test questions you ever remember are the ones you get wrong.

I hope the Victory line does endure. They are on the right path. They have their unique styling, so it doesn't have to be like HD, because it ain't. I hope you enjoy your new ride and get years of enjoyment from that scoot.

Default It's nothing new

The change to the bigger next to the interstate stores started well before the present CEO For my local dealer it happened in 1997.
Here is a quote from their web site.
In 1997, Harley-Davidson Motor Company approached the Schulteti family with a new national marketing plan that would even out the distribution of dealerships throughout the Indianapolis area. As part of this plan, they wanted the Schulteti family to scout out a new location for their dealership. At the time, the dealership had only 17 employees (including family) and a rapid hiring process began. Having built its reputation on knowledgeable sales and service staff, this was a crucial period for the dealership. By the time it moved in 1998, the number of employees had risen to 32. For the first time, employees would greatly outnumber the Schulteti family members, and everyone wanted to ensure that the change was a positive one.

Since the move, the number of employees has nearly doubled and there have been additions to the facility to enlarge the service and storage areas. A focused approach to serving customer needs has allowed Southside Harley-Davidson to maintain and grow its customer base. Many of our loyal customers are second and third gereration Harley-Davidson® motorcycle owners.

I don't understand Harley's attitude to get ride of the small shops that have worked for 50 year either.
Or them forcing old shops to build new bigger complexes they can't afford on city loops.
But that wouldn't be the reason I changed brands.

I do like the Victory Cross County and if my circumstances would have been different this summer I would have bought one instead of my current CVO.

I hope it all works out for you.

Cool

Well neighbor best to you and yours....Sure i will see you around but please drop us a few pics of the Victory!! Somehow i just dont get it?
But whatever the reason..Dont matter..Your on two wheels..

I'll still wave

I am also very disappointed in alot of things happening to our country...as i get older i am realizing that i cant change everything and decided that i wont win the war but maybe a few battles...Keep fighting in whatever you think is important but remember life is short so be true to yourself and only you live with your decisions...
Happy Trails....
