Can't say I agree with your reasoning .. especially since you really like your Harley. If they went out of business completely I would keep mine ....
I'm not a big fan of those OHC Victory engines, the heads are just too damn big. Now if Polaris can somehow bring down the price of their Indian bikes, HD will really have some American made competition.

Reason I made this post was to say bye to the friends I have made here. As you see in my post, I have nothing against the bike itself or the people that ride hem. It is a great ride and loved every mile I put on it. I understand big business but this great woman of the Pierce Family lost her son a few years ago to a car pulling out in front of him and her husband recently passed and her shop was the only thing she had left of them. She worked there every day, she still typed the paperwork on an old IBM powerball typewriter. HD has wanted them to make a HUGE Megaplex and they are in a small farming town. So they finally yanked the dealership agreement on her. That's what sucks

Congrats & good for you! I like Victory bikes.

Although, IDK why you would leave the HD forum. Plenty of people on here w/other brand bikes or no bikes at all.

I see your point. I was ready to buy another bike. As a friend told me, "My trade-in light was on" I was really looking at the 2012 Road Glide Ultra or the CVO Road Glide, loved the white version. But when this all came to light last fall, I started to rethink things.

We still have small dealers around here not getting any pressure to expand. I'm guessing the dealership was going to be pulled anyway for other reasons.

It does suck, but the world progresses and life moves on......that's just the way it is and if you feel you are teaching the HD folks a lesson by no longer buying their product, then by all means go for it, it's your feelings that are important. The times have definitely changed, those of us that have been riding HD for the past 40 years have seen all that. The biggest difference between the "new" guys and the "old" guys that I see, the new guys have a different way about them and don't have that brand loyalty, where the old guys put up with all the change and BS that the new guys bitch about and just keep on riding them, there is nothing else for us. Why is that? I think because even though people today hate the marketing campaigns, the supershops, the high heat caused by emissions, the high prices, the feeling you have to buy extra stuff to make them right, whatever, the 30-40 year guys have seen nothing but steady improvemant in the product itself, you had to live through those days to understand it. Ride a shovel or a pan for a year ....... but I digress, Victory is coming on strong, my favorite dealership now carries them both. WAIT! What's this??? OMG! Victorys in a "Wal Mart" style shop and not a Mom and Pop! Go figure! Welcome to the world of today .......... personally I wouldn't give up something I love because the world has changed .......

You would think that, but it has happened to over 90 small dealers the past year

I'm guessing the large dealers in the Chicago area were whining like little bitches and the MoCo put the pressure on Pierce to expand. I'm assuming that is the dealer you are talking about. Just a guess but why else would they want to lose a dealership? Just doesn't make sense to have a huge Megaplex dealer in rural America. You should see Dodge City Harley, I bet there isn't 20 bikes in their showroom.

I can understand the reasoning, but Victory is not a mom an pop company. They are owned by Textron which is a Huge corporation. Textron owns Polaris and does the same thing Harley does to small dealers....don't sell enough sleds or Atv's? see ya..
