Question Is this normal

Had new burly bars installed on my SG 2012 dealer did all the work when i turn my radio on along with my driving lights my battery gage drops to 9 volts when i first turn everything on, when i start to take off the volts jump up to 13 when i come to stop they drop back to 9 volts is this normal or should i take back to dealer. i also leave the bike on a battery tender when i'm not going to ride it ......Juan

What did it read prior to the new bars being installed? Are these readings with the motor running? That sounds like quite a drop in volts. I'd guess maybe 12V and then back up to around 14V or so, but not down to 9V, that seems a bit extreme.

Put a volt meter on your battery to check the voltage there compared to what the gage reads. Installed voltmeter is not vary accurate, at least not on mine.

Sounds like you need a battery.

Definetly not normal, if your guage is accurate, it cpuld be a few things, but something is definitely drawing too much, or not putting out enough, I would check the battery, regulator, and stator just to be safe.

got my bike back from dealer on saturday afternoon they told me they replace voltage regulator and the battery, service manager told me they took a voltage regulator from a new bike to replace mine, then he tells me that my ipod interface is not working properly he said they will need to take it off and send it out to get fix, i thought it was working just fine will read up on the ipod interface and what i can find..by the way my bike only had 500 miles on it before the voltage regulator went bad.....Juan
