I bought a used 09 Street Glide about 9 months ago. Just noticed that there are no wheel weights on either rim. I've always balanced my tires on previous bikes which were sportbikes. Any reason why this hog wouldn't have the wheels balanced? The reason it caught my attention is that I picked up an 18 inch front to replace my 17 inch front. The 18 has wheel weights on it. Im sure the right answer is balance those wheels.
The last tires I mounted did not require weights. 2 - E3's on my Road King, 2 - Avons on a coworkers softtail, and 2- metzlers on another coworkers Vrod. I do line the dot up with the valve stem. I used to use Dyna beads but I no longer believe in their effectiveness.
Another possibility is that if the tyres have been changed the owner may not have balanced them - there are some people out there who are non-believers!
Thanks for the responses. I'm going to balance them. I have never heard about the beads but it sounds like a pretty simple idea. Let's see what the price for balancing is going to be.
I am certainly not a big dyna beads believer, but I keep an open mind. Thought this video was interesting. I would like to see him pour some sand in that bottle and try it as well.
